Portland travelogue②

day 1 (afternoon〜night)f:id:takaabgata:20221013081627j:image

After check-in the hotel,(actually after taking a nap) we headed to a bookstore called POWELL'S BOOKS which is located in downtown. They had so many rooms to distinguish books genres that I couldn't go through all. You can see the marks such as BLUE ROOM, ORANGE ROOM, COFFEE ROOM in the below photos. Also staff recommendation papers were impressive, even though I didn't buy them, I felt how stories in there and how good they were.

The book I baught is called CRYING IN H MART written by Michelle Zauner, the vocalist of JAPANESE BREAKFAST.  I had been interesting in this book for a long time as I booked it at a library 2 months ago, but I'm still waiting for more than 40 reservations. "...during traveling, that book was on the shelf named as BEST SELLER non fiction (as 3rd biggest seller)" There was no reason not to buy it.

Downtown was as small as we can walk through in a hour, but again, every places were absolutely attractive. I said many times that...

"Why is here so many fashionable cafe? Bookstore? Bakery? Clothing store? Why so sophisticated? I feel they tolerate art!"  My friend may have been annoying, Sorry about thatㅠ

One of the most impressive thing was that machine↑ It made my ice americano automatically as being done all processes by itself with saying "Taka, I'll make your americano right away. Good choice. I like americano~brabrabra" Although it was Japanese shop MUJI, I saw such a machine for the first.

Accidently, some vibes brought us to the restaurant called GRASSA which serves hand crafted pasta. That Carbonara included bacon, cheese, creeeeamyyyyy sauce. I nearly swallowed it.

A day before this day, in Vancouver, the moon was conspicuous that made me take pic. When I saw the beautiful moon in Portland, in addition watched an instagram story which showed the moon taken by one of my favorite comedian in Japan, I was moved at how the moon affect us from different regions such including 16 hours time lag.

Then, I just wondered if my family was seeing the same one? How about my friends?
